Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the delivery of high-quality primary healthcare services to immigration detainees within a detention centre environment
• Provide clinical oversight and act as the primary medical escalation point for onsite health staff
• Manage acute medical presentations, chronic diseases, and complex comorbidities
• Support patients with acute and chronic mental health issues in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
• Provide preventative health services, including immunisations, health promotion, and preventative health checks
• Maintain high-quality, comprehensive medical records without the requirement for Medicare billing or administration

Requirements

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
• Full registration with the Medical Board of Australia without restrictions
• Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM, or an equivalent qualification
• Opioid substitution treatment prescriber authorisation (or willingness to obtain it)
• Demonstrated experience in managing mental health, substance use, and trauma-related health concerns
• Strong understanding of public health issues and communicable diseases
