General Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Deliver primary healthcare services via telehealth to immigration detainees
• Provide preventative health checks, immunisations, and health promotion
• Manage acute presentations and chronic diseases
• Support patients with acute and chronic mental health issues
• Serve as the primary escalation point and provide clinical supervision for onsite health staff
• Adapt to the changing needs of the immigration detention environment

Requirements

• Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
• Full registration with the Medical Board of Australia without restrictions
• Fellowship with RACGP, ACRRM, or equivalent substantial clinical practice experience
• Continuous Fellowship (FRACGP/FACRRM/FARGP or similar)
• Experience in telehealth (highly desirable)
• Demonstrated capability in managing mental health and alcohol or other drug concerns
• Knowledge of public health issues, particularly communicable diseases
• Understanding of the needs of vulnerable populations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Authorisation as an opioid substitution treatment prescriber (or willingness to obtain)
