About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Transport division's strategic objectives in alignment with the Group vision.
  • Oversee daily transport operations, including fleet management, logistics coordination, and route optimization.
  • Champion a safety-first culture by overseeing the development and implementation of health and safety strategies.
  • Manage budgets for the transport division to ensure financial performance and national profitability targets are met.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and technological advancement within the transport and logistics sector.
  • Lead and engage a large workforce, focusing on culture, retention, and compliance with New Zealand regulations.
  • Partner with internal departments such as HR, Finance, and Operations to ensure strategic alignment.
  • Monitor and improve operational KPIs, including delivery timelines, fuel efficiency, and cost management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in senior transport leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of managing large teams and complex operations in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand transport regulations and safety compliance.
  • Expertise in budget management and financial performance analysis.
  • Proficiency with transport management systems and advanced computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and report at Board level.
  • Must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
