General Manager - Transport

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the transport division's strategic objectives in alignment with the group's vision and goals.
• Oversee daily transport operations, including fleet management, logistics coordination, and route optimization.
• Champion a safety-first culture by overseeing the development and implementation of health and safety strategies.
• Ensure full compliance with New Zealand’s transport, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Manage budgets for the transport division to ensure financial performance aligns with organizational targets.
• Drive cost efficiencies and identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and competitive advantage.
• Monitor and improve operational KPIs such as delivery timelines, fuel efficiency, and cost management.
• Build team engagement and reduce turnover through active management of culture and wellbeing.
• Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional Certification: Certificate of knowledge of law and practice (required).
• 8–10 years of experience in senior transport leadership roles.
• Strong knowledge of New Zealand transport regulations and safety compliance.
• Proven expertise in budget management and financial performance analysis.
• Advanced proficiency in transport management systems and digital tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage complex operations in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at the Board level.
