General Manager

Responsibilities

• Oversee the overall management, promotion, and operation of the Navy Pier events facility.
• Maximize facility utilization and revenue by working with local stakeholders, hotels, and promoters.
• Negotiate lease agreements and contracts with event organizers, meeting planners, and agents.
• Direct all facility activities including finance, human resources, marketing, security, and maintenance.
• Develop and implement annual operating plans, including capital planning and revenue forecasting.
• Manage and supervise administrative and supervisory staff to ensure high service standards.
• Ensure compliance with all management contract provisions, safety regulations, and local/state/federal laws.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, public administration, or a related field.
• 5-7+ years of progressively responsible experience as a convention center GM/AGM or a major convention hotel GM.
• Proven experience in contract negotiation and personnel supervision.
• Deep knowledge of the convention, exhibition, tradeshow, and arena industries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays based on the event schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong orientation toward hospitality and customer service within the entertainment industry.
• Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, sales/marketing, and facility operating standards.
• Experience managing complex stakeholder relationships and diverse interest groups.
