General Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Class

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building systems, equipment, and fixtures according to manufacturer guidelines and accepted practices
• Perform preventive maintenance tasks for residential and commercial-type building systems, including lighting and life safety systems
• Inspect buildings and roofs to ensure structural integrity and safety
• Utilize hand and power tools, mobile electronic devices, and diagnostic testing instruments
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Perform various trades including carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning work
• Execute brazing, soldering, pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication as required
• Coordinate repairs with other trades and departments
• Assist with furniture and event setups, breakdowns, and decorations for special functions

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Formal training in general maintenance with documented successful completion
• Moderate experience in preventative maintenance, meter reading, and motor testing
• Knowledge of building and utilities construction, including life safety systems (fire alarm, sprinkler, etc.), water systems, and HVAC
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and work in enclosed spaces or on scaffolding
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
• Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card for operating aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or forklifts
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Outlook
• Ability to follow verbal and written directions in English

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 10 certification or higher
• Proven ability to operate aerial/scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and forklifts
