General Maintenance Mechanic 2nd Class

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair building systems, equipment, and fixtures according to manufacturer guidelines and accepted practices
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks for residential and commercial-type building systems, including lighting and life safety systems
• Inspect buildings and roofs to identify and remediate visual or operational deficiencies
• Utilize hand and power tools, measuring/diagnostic meters, and mobile electronic devices to complete repairs
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Perform various trades including carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, electrical, heating, and air conditioning work
• Coordinate repairs with other trades and departments and assist with furniture and event setups

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent with documentation of formal maintenance training
• Current classification and experience as a General Maintenance Mechanic 3rd Class
• Minimum of two years of service in the trade at Villanova University
• Moderate experience in preventative maintenance, meter reading, and the repair of gas, water, electrical, and life safety systems
• Knowledge of building and utilities construction, including refrigeration, elevators, and air handling units
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Outlook
• Valid driver's license and ability to maintain university driving privileges
• Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card for operating aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or forklifts
• Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current OSHA 10 certification or higher
• Demonstrated ability to operate aerial/scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and forklifts
