General Librarian

Responsibilities

• Manage all library operations, including the acquisition, preparation, and accessibility of library materials
• Provide library support to strengthen academic programs and assist students in developing information literacy skills
• Assist faculty members with pedagogical skills, instruction delivery, and independent research
• Lead the development and implementation of plans to maintain archives and ethnic book collections
• Oversee the conversion to a virtual library and manage the digitization of collections
• Perform original and complex copy cataloging and maintain catalog records
• Formulate library department policies and procedures to improve effectiveness
• Serve as the library liaison with various academic departments

Requirements

• ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree or equivalent
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant academic experience
• Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse clientele
• Ability to work evenings and weekends for reference work
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills
• Proficiency in computer applications and online course delivery platforms

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Voyager software
• Experience with grants acquisition
• Experience working within an HBCU environment
