General Chemistry Workshop Leader

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshop sections using Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) to guide students through chemistry activities.
• Assist students in groups as they work through problem-solving tasks and discuss underlying chemistry concepts.
• Answer student questions regarding course material and specific workshop activities.
• Prepare for workshop activities in advance to ensure effective facilitation.
• Grade homework assignments according to instructor guidelines.
• Attend weekly meetings with the course instructor, Dr. Morton.

Requirements

• Successful completion of CHM 207 with a grade of B or higher.
• For CHM 208 leader positions: Successful completion of CHM 208 with a grade of B or higher.
• Strong knowledge of fundamental chemistry concepts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in technical and people skills to support a collaborative learning environment.
• Availability for Fall 2025 during one of the following times: Tuesdays (5:40-7:05 pm) or Wednesdays (5:40-7:05 pm).

Preferred Qualifications

• Chemistry or Biochemistry major.
• Former student of Dr. Morton.
• Federal Work Study included in financial aid package.
• Green Dot Certification.
