General Chemistry Workshop Leader

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshop sections using Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) to guide students through group activities.
• Assist students with problem-solving and discussions regarding underlying chemistry concepts.
• Prepare for workshop activities in advance to effectively support student groups.
• Grade homework assignments as directed by the course instructor.
• Attend weekly meetings with Dr. Kinzie to discuss student progress and performance.
• Communicate student successes and deficiencies to the course instructor regularly.

Requirements

• Successful completion of CHM 207 and CHM 208 with a grade of B or higher.
• Sound knowledge of general chemistry concepts and course material.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• A commitment to facilitating discussion and helping students learn without simply providing all the answers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Majoring in Biology or Chemistry.
• Demonstrated experience in peer leadership or student instruction.
