General Chemistry Workshop Leader

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshop sections using Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) to guide students through group activities.
• Actively guide students through problem-solving and concept discussions without simply providing all the answers.
• Answer student questions regarding workshop activities and underlying chemistry concepts.
• Prepare for workshop activities in advance to effectively assist student groups.
• Grade homework assignments as directed by the course instructor.
• Attend weekly meetings with Dr. Kinzie to discuss student progress and performance.
• Maintain regular communication with the course instructor regarding student successes and deficiencies.

Requirements

• Successful completion of CHM 207 and CHM 208 with a grade of B or higher.
• Sound knowledge of general chemistry concepts and course material.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• A commitment to facilitating student discussion and helping students master the material.

Preferred Qualifications

• Majoring in Biology or Chemistry.
• Demonstrated experience in peer leadership or student instruction.
