General Accountant

Responsibilities

• Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and journal entries
• Reconcile bank statements, bookkeeping ledgers, and assigned general ledger accounts
• Manage income and expenditure accounts and perform employee expenditure analysis
• Generate financial reports and conduct monthly variance analysis against budget and forecast
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, accounting standards, and financial regulations
• Assist with budgeting functions, audits, and tax filings
• Manage fixed expense analysis, including determination of unposted liabilities and accruals
• Liaise with other university divisions to resolve discrepancies and intercompany purchase issues

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from an accredited institution
• 2+ years of accounting experience within an educational setting
• Advanced Excel skills, including proficiency with tables, pivot tables, and lookup functions
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with accounting software and data entry
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter with high attention to detail
