Gearbox Technician II

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and rebuild industrial gearboxes and drivetrain components
• Safely operate shop equipment including overhead cranes, presses, forklifts, and cutting/heating tools
• Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and bill of materials (BOMs)
• Identify internal gearbox components and document inspection findings
• Support gearbox teardown and mainshaft disassembly operations
• Perform scheduled gear inspections for component reuse evaluation
• Maintain production throughput while meeting standard repair timelines and quality documentation requirements

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Proven experience operating overhead cranes
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and perform hands-on mechanical work for extended periods
• Ability to work in an industrial shop environment around oils and heavy components

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in the wind industry, industrial maintenance, or gearbox repair
• Experience with wind turbine components, mainshafts, bearings, or generators
• Trade school certification or technical degree
• Experience using heating/cutting torches or Hytorc equipment
• Forklift experience
