About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced technical support for ERCP (Esophageal Retrograde Cannulation of Pancreas) and EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) procedures under physician direction.
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, including taking biopsies, advancing scopes, and performing electro cautery or other bleeding control methods.
- Prepare procedure rooms by setting up necessary equipment and maintaining supply levels.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment issues within the Gastroenterology Lab.
- Support patients by explaining upcoming procedures and providing post-operative instructions.
- Prepare and draw up non-controlled medications and administer topical anesthetics as directed.
- Assist in the training and development of Gastroenterology Technician I and II staff.
- Participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation, including weekends, for emergency procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1 to 3 years of experience as a Gastroenterology Technician II or equivalent experience in advanced technology.
- Specialized technical, clerical, or vocational training acquired through 1-2 years of additional job-related training.
- Proficiency with specialized medical equipment such as EEG, EKG, and blood analyzers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in a related field.
