Gas Field Technician I

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day operations including gas turn-ons/offs, meter installations, regulator maintenance, and meter reads.
• Respond to emergency calls and mitigate risks to protect life and property.
• Interact professionally with customers to address inquiries and provide safety guidance.
• Maintain and safely operate company service trucks, including routine inspections and stocking.
• Conduct inspections and pressure tests to ensure the integrity and safety of gas lines and connections.
• Use GIS systems and mobile software (smartphones, tablets, laptops) to manage service lines and tasks.
• Collaborate with Construction Managers and city officials to ensure seamless communication.
• Complete and maintain all required Operator Qualifications (OQ).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years of experience in the utilities industry, preferably in natural gas.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to obtain OQ Certifications within three months of hire.
• Ability to smell Mercaptan in natural gas at 1%.
• Physical ability to work in various weather conditions and tight spaces.
• Availability to work standard hours (7:00 am – 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday) with occasional overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

• Related experience in a field operations environment.
• Understanding of local codes and regulations.
