About the role

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and execute evening operations for The Garden, a whole food, plant-based eatery.
  • Lead and supervise a team of student workers, fostering a culture of cooperation, respect, and professional growth.
  • Maintain high standards for food preparation, customer service, sanitation, and safety in compliance with state and county regulations.
  • Direct the supper food preparation process and manage end-of-day closing procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to develop new menu options and manage food costs to ensure profitability.
  • Assist in instructional workshops to educate students and the community on plant-based living.
  • Communicate equipment needs, ingredient shortages, and supply requirements to the Manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college or trade school education preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in food service.
  • Current ServSafe Managers certification (or ability to obtain within 6 weeks of hire).
  • Proven culinary expertise in whole food, plant-based (WFPB) cooking.
  • Specialized skills in allergen-free cooking (e.g., dairy-free, gluten-free).
  • Demonstrated commitment to Jesus Christ and the mission of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
  • Proficiency with technology including Excel, Outlook, and POS systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks required for food service equipment.
