About the role
Responsibilities
- Co-facilitate game design workshops for approximately 25 high school scholars using project-based learning.
- Guide scholars through the complete game development process, including gameplay mechanics, storytelling, and aesthetics.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative learning environment using the pedagogy of Play, Create, Share, and Reflect.
- Support scholars in developing game design documents, pitch presentations, and technical skills.
- Manage classroom dynamics, facilitate discussions on inclusivity in design, and provide constructive feedback.
- Complete administrative tasks including attendance tracking, student achievement data logging, and weekly staff meetings.
- Attend all required training and program dates, including onboarding, staff training, and virtual close-out.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience co-facilitating workshops for 15-25 participants.
- Proven experience working with low-income, first-generation youth of color.
- Ability to attend all mandatory training and program dates (June 27 – July 30, 2026).
- Possession of a personal computer with a working webcam, speaker, and microphone.
- Reliable internet connection with at least 25 Mbps download speed.
- Strong commitment to SMASH’s mission and a growth mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with virtual learning facilitation.
- Familiarity with 21st-century skills and project-based learning.
- Ability to quickly adopt and adapt to new technologies through self-guided tutorials.
