Functional Safety Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead functional safety activities across various programs, ensuring adherence to ISO 26262 and related standards
• Develop, maintain, and implement functional safety plans tailored to specific project needs
• Manage safety assessments including FMEDA, FTA, DFA, and Safety Case documentation
• Collate safety evidence from stakeholders to build comprehensive safety packages for customers and certification bodies
• Train and mentor engineering teams on safety standards, processes, and best practices
• Serve as a liaison between internal teams, customers, and external safety certification bodies
• Act as the gatekeeper for each phase of the safety lifecycle to ensure quality and compliance
• Manage third-party audits and coordinate with external evaluators

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 8+ years of functional safety experience within the semiconductor industry
• Expertise in ISO 26262 or IEC 61508 and safety-critical applications
• Hands-on experience creating safety documents such as Safety Cases, Safety Management Plans, and Safety Manuals
• Proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and safety-critical projects

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ISO 26262 Certification
• Experience with DO-254 or MIL-STD safety processes
• Background in FPGA, ASIC, or SoC architecture and verification
• Familiarity with automotive quality standards (IATF 16949, VDA 6.3) or cybersecurity standards (ISO 21434, IEC 62443)
• Professional safety certifications such as FSCP or TÜV FS Professional
