Functional Safety Engineer

Responsibilities

• Ensure functional safety in the design, development, and validation of Body and thermal features
• Provide functional safety guidance on feature definition and identify hazards from electrical malfunctions
• Perform vehicle-level HARA and conduct safety analyses including DFMEA, FTA, and FMEDA
• Develop safety mechanisms such as redundancy architectures, hardware diagnostics, and fail-safe designs
• Develop test cases to verify safety mechanisms on LabCar and Vehicle test assets using HiL environments
• Collaborate with Diagnostics, Platform, Controls, and Electrical Systems teams

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related discipline
• 2-3 years of automotive industry experience at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
• Experience with electronic hardware fault diagnosis and circuit debugging
• Proficiency in CAN, LIN, or Ethernet network analysis
• Proven knowledge of ISO 26262

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with robotics systems (servo control, position sensing, or electromechanical actuators)
• Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts applied to automotive safety
