About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead compliance activities for ESS functional safety focusing on UL 1998, UL 991, and UL 5500
- Apply safety principles to ESS hardware and software through FMEA, hazard analyses, and safety cases
- Manage certification programs with NRTLs to ensure timely product approvals
- Translate complex safety standards into actionable requirements for cross-functional teams
- Develop and execute hazard mitigation and validation strategies
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and product design teams to streamline safety processes
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering
- Hands-on experience in embedded software development within safety-critical environments
- Proficiency in C for real-time embedded systems
- Strong background in UL 1998, UL 991, and UL 5500 standards
- Experience with Energy Storage Systems, power electronics, or safety-critical systems
- Experience managing compliance or certification processes with third-party bodies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with microcontroller-based systems and low-level firmware
- Familiarity with IEC 61508, IEC/UL 60730, ISO 26262, or ISO 13849
- Demonstrated ability in V&V planning and safety case development
