About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform pre and post trade compliance monitoring for all asset classes on commingled funds, separately managed accounts, and registered funds
- Analyze compliance breach trends, identify root causes, and recommend process design improvements
- Develop, test, and implement automated rules within monitoring systems and manual procedures
- Review governing documents such as Fund Regulatory documents and Investment Management Agreements to identify and resolve interpretive issues
- Extract and code compliance restrictions from governing documents into compliance systems for new accounts and amendments
- Manage the new account and amendment onboarding process to ensure timely reviews and sign-offs
- Lead projects with IT, Data, and system vendors to enhance automation in compliance systems
- Lead reviews with internal and external auditors to facilitate controls reviews
- Conduct meetings with clients and local regulators
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
- 1-3 years of experience in the investment management field, specifically in investment portfolio compliance or related areas
- Sound understanding of financial instruments including equity, fixed income, derivatives, bank loans, and private credit
- Strong understanding of the portfolio management lifecycle
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to read and comprehend complex governing compliance documents like IMAs and Prospectus/SAI
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Charles River (CRD), Sentinel, Bloomberg, or Aladdin
- Knowledge of operating a Bloomberg terminal
- Knowledge of local regulations as they pertain to rule coding and account monitoring
