Full-Stack Software Engineer

About the Company

Straia is building the AI-native intelligence layer for colleges and universities. We unify institutional data and layer on AI agents that answer questions, generate insights, and automate repetitive workflows to transform how colleges operate.

Responsibilities

• Ship features end-to-end across the React + Vite frontend and Node + Express + TypeScript backend
• Build AI agent experiences including interfaces and APIs for insights and automated workflows
• Connect the application layer to the data stack (Postgres + DuckDB) and model inference
• Scope, build, and ship features with high autonomy
• Build internal tooling and automations to increase team leverage
• Maintain quality through observability, testing, and fault tolerance

Requirements

• 4-6 years of experience building and shipping production web applications
• Proficiency with modern frontend frameworks, preferably React
• Experience building production backend services and APIs, ideally in Node.js and TypeScript
• Experience working with relational databases and APIs in production
• High agency and ability to drive features from concept to production
• Interest in integrating LLMs and models into products

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with analytical or columnar databases like DuckDB or BigQuery
• Prior experience wrapping models or third-party APIs
