Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, maintain, and refactor front and backend systems using Python with Django, Flask, or Pyramid
- Take full ownership of complex, cross-functional projects from kickoff to completion
- Communicate transparently about architectural and design decisions
- Leverage AI coding tools to accelerate implementation and high-impact engineering decisions
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and fellow engineers throughout the product life cycle
- Ensure the platform's infrastructure is robust, scalable, and efficient
- Contribute to continuous improvement through architecture reviews and guilds
Requirements
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with a focus on modern frameworks and scalable architecture
- Proficiency in Python and/or Ruby
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Strong understanding of Behavior-Driven Development (BDD)
- Strong understanding of REST and CSS
- Proficiency with database modeling and querying
- Proficiency with design patterns
- Strong communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Programming skills in Ruby on Rails, Hotwire, Turbo, and Stimulus
- Experience with NextJS, Gatsby, iOS, and/or Android
- Experience with TailwindCSS or similar frameworks
- Experience with automated visual testing tools like Selenium
- Experience with AWS, Heroku, or Vercel
- Experience with Microservices or "Miniliths"
