Full Stack Engineer

algo1 is a VC-backed stealth-mode company building behavioural AI solutions for the retail industry. Our mission is to bring the intelligence of modern machine learning directly to the in-store shopping experience through a clean-slate platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement reactive, real-time web interfaces for in-store content personalisation
• Contribute to distributed, event-driven backend services connecting web experiences with remote devices and external data
• Model and manage structured and semi-structured data across various storage layers
• Integrate AI-driven personalisation and real-time insights into user flows
• Contribute to overall system design including service boundaries, data ownership, scaling, and observability

Requirements

• Experience building modern full-stack applications using Python, Java, or Go with React/TypeScript
• Proficiency with various storage technologies such as Postgres, Mongo, Redis, or Object storage
• Experience with async and bi-directional communication protocols like WebSockets or SSE
• Experience designing and implementing event-driven distributed systems using Kafka, Pulsar, RabbitMQ, or MQTT
• Active use of AI development tools like Claude, Copilot, or Cursor to accelerate development

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience deploying services on major cloud providers (Azure, GCP, AWS)
• Knowledge of container orchestration and service containerisation using Kubernetes or Docker
• Experience with real-time data collection or processing
• Background in IoT or Edge-oriented architectures
• Knowledge of retail POS, inventory, or loyalty systems
