Fuels Process Engineer

Responsibilities

• Interpret process engineering information via Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), including heat and material balances and process envelopes
• Develop equipment specifications and size tanks, vessels, valves, lines, and pumps
• Prepare equipment lists and data sheets
• Develop and approve manufacturing drawings for custom-designed equipment
• Interface with vendors for procurement of equipment and instruments
• Develop equipment commissioning plans and procedures
• Coordinate with facility operations to implement, test, and optimize TRISO fuel fabrication processes
• Provide technical oversight of fuel fabrication processes and incorporate continuous improvement best practices
• Partner with manufacturing teams for equipment assembly and test certification

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering
• 5+ years of experience in a process or mechanical engineering role within chemical, pharmaceutical, industrial, or manufacturing settings
• Experience generating PFDs, Heat & Material Balances (H&MBs), P&IDs, and equipment lists
• Experience working with hazardous processes and chemicals and implementing safety controls
• Experience commissioning vendor-supplied and in-house designed equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with CAD, SolidWorks, and modeling software
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
