Fuels and Emissions Lab Engineer/Analytical Chemist

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on analysis of fuels and emissions samples using standard and customized test methods
• Maintain analytical instruments through preventive maintenance and diagnostics to ensure functional readiness
• Write comprehensive reports detailing analytical results
• Establish project timelines, targets, and courses of action to meet customer expectations
• Consult with technical teams as a subject matter expert in chemical measurement
• Apply problem-solving skills to diagnose and recommend changes based on lab test data
• Maintain strict adherence to GM safety practices

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
• 2+ years of hands-on analytical chemistry experience in a laboratory environment
• Practical experience performing sample preparation
• Experience operating analytical instrumentation for the characterization of chemical materials and complex mixtures

Preferred Qualifications

• Master of Science degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
• Experience with Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography, and/or Mass Spectrometry for hydrocarbon speciation
• Familiarity with ASTM standards related to fuels testing
• Experience supporting emissions or fuel-economy programs through sample analysis or fuel property characterization
