High school diploma or equivalent, 5-10 years surface mining or reclamation experience, Heavy equipment operation expertise, Ability to monitor and record site activities
About the role
Responsibilities
- Excavate waste coal and farm waste coal fines
- Load and unload trucks
- Excavate and store clay for final cover and grade ash
- Mix soil for final cover and plant grasses for vegetative cover
- Service mobile equipment and perform mechanical maintenance
- Assist in site maintenance including road repair and housekeeping
- Ensure equipment and site conditions meet MSHA safety and health standards
- Comply with environmental laws regarding dust, erosion, and water treatment
- Control fuel quality through sampling and top sizing
- Safely operate front-end loaders, bulldozers, track excavators, water trucks, and dump trucks
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 to 10 years of experience in surface mining or surface reclamation
- Thorough understanding of heavy equipment operation
- Ability to monitor and record fuel site activities
- Ability to recognize and communicate site problems to management
