FSQR Pre-Sorter Level 1

Responsibilities

• Monitor USDA-FSIS regulatory activities and ensure plant compliance with regulatory standards
• Act as a liaison between USDA-FSIS inspectors and plant operations
• Use knives to incise lymph nodes and perform other necessary cuts to prepare carcasses and parts for inspection
• Maintain frequent communication and interaction with USDA-FSIS inspectors

Requirements

• Fluency in English (ability to read, write, and speak)
• Basic knowledge of safe food handling and employee safety practices
• Basic math skills for reading weights, measurements, and coordinating lot numbers
• Ability to stand for several hours at a time and work in hot, humid environments
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use tools such as knives and hooks

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous beef processing experience with knife skills
• Bilingual skills (English and Spanish)
• Ability to learn technical procedures and concepts
• Strong understanding of USDA-FSIS requirements
• Ability to manage conflict and enforce procedures
