Frontend Engineer

About the Company

Picnic is reinventing lunch at work by partnering with local restaurants to deliver high-quality, individually packaged meals without fees or tips. The company owns the full stack of workplace food delivery, including kitchens, courier operations, and client applications.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance React applications using WebSockets, SSE, and GraphQL subscriptions
• Contribute to courier mobile apps built in React Native
• Lead technical design for complex features from architecture to production
• Own projects end-to-end, driving execution and cross-functional alignment
• Improve frontend reliability, latency, and scalability in real-time environments
• Lead debugging, incident response, and performance investigations
• Mentor and coach engineers to raise the bar for frontend engineering

Requirements

• 2+ years of software engineering experience with deep frontend expertise
• Strong experience with TypeScript and modern web development
• Understanding of client networking, async programming, and performance optimization
• Experience integrating with GraphQL and REST APIs
• Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and influence architecture
• Experience mentoring junior engineers
• Ability to adapt as the product and team evolve

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building delivery, logistics, or real-time systems at scale
• Full-stack experience and understanding of backend tradeoffs
• Track record of improving developer productivity through tooling or patterns
• Familiarity with modern frontend architecture best practices
