Front End Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain complex, production-grade front-end applications using React or Angular.
• Own front-end architecture decisions, establishing scalable patterns and engineering best practices.
• Develop intuitive user experiences that enable operators to act on complex logistics and operational data.
• Collaborate with product designers, backend engineers, and military subject matter experts to translate requirements into software.
• Build data-intensive interfaces, visualizations, and real-time user experiences.
• Integrate with APIs, WebSocket-based services, and distributed backend systems.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks and usability issues to ensure reliability in demanding environments.

Requirements

• Expert proficiency in React (preferred) or Angular.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript, with a strong command of HTML.
• 4+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 75% of that time in pure front-end roles.
• Proven track record of building significant, non-trivial front-end products from the ground up.
• Ability to own front-end architecture and technical direction rather than just implementing tickets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with data-intensive front ends and data visualization libraries like D3.js.
• Experience with mapping libraries such as Mapbox or MapLibre.
• Experience working with WebSockets for real-time, high-throughput UIs.
• Previous experience working in a startup environment building products from scratch.
