Front Desk Clerk

Responsibilities

• Greet and direct all visitors to the London Centre of Hope in a professional and welcoming manner
• Manage the registration and intake process for community members applying to stay at the centre
• Answer telephone inquiries, direct calls, and distribute messages
• Maintain accurate records of client stays and ensure all reporting is documented as required
• Accept, record, and distribute mail and deliveries
• Provide referrals and general information to community members regarding counseling, medical, or social services
• Handle administrative tasks including managing access cards and processing incoming monies in the safe
• Assist with client services such as handing out bag lunches and managing medication intake at registration
• Work cooperatively with various departments to ensure exemplary client service delivery

Requirements

• College Diploma or University Degree in human or social services
• Criminal Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
• Completion of a two-step Tuberculosis Skin Test
• First Aid/CPR certification
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification (or willingness to acquire)
• Excellent computer, clerical, and organizational skills
• Ability to work a part-time schedule (Saturday and Sunday, 10:00am–6:00pm)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with diverse populations, including those facing mental health and addiction challenges
• Understanding of the Housing First philosophy and issues relating to housing stability
• Knowledge of the social and economic barriers unique to the shelter system
