About the role

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for the School of Nursing by receiving visitors, answering telephones, and providing support to faculty, staff, and students
  • Provide real-time operational and technical support during classes, including troubleshooting AV, videoconferencing, and computer-based exam issues
  • Manage classroom scheduling and room bookings using internal systems and liaising with Enrolment Services
  • Coordinate facility and office support functions, including reporting building repairs and liaising with UBC Facilities for maintenance and inspections
  • Perform routine office administration such as mail distribution, supply replenishment, meeting room bookings, and coordinating building access
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding processes, HR reporting, and basic finance tasks like processing expense reports
  • Support the creation of digital teaching materials, including AV setup for recordings and uploading content to the Learning Management System

Requirements

  • High School graduation
  • One year of related training and two years of related experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of post-secondary education and four years of related experience
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience working in a university environment or with educational professionals
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to exercise tact and discretion with diverse stakeholders
  • Familiarity with audio-visual hardware and software support
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for composing complex correspondence and reports
