Freelance Producer/News Editor

Responsibilities

• Format, program, coordinate, and produce live news programs for network radio operations
• Produce segments, rundowns, and reporter hits
• Manage clear communication with reporters, editors, the assignment desk, and anchors
• Keep newscasts updated by developing stories as they progress throughout the day
• Handle staffing issues in the absence of managers
• Check all segments and newscasts for editorial accuracy and necessary updates

Requirements

• Experience editing all-news radio or producing live breaking news in a television control room
• Highly skilled in writing and copy editing
• Strong editorial judgment and the ability to handle breaking news situations
• Ability to interact with high-profile talent and work effectively in a team environment
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven newsroom
• Knowledge of iNews, ENCO, and Adobe Audition (Cool-Edit) is a major plus
