Freelance Copyeditor: Medicine and Life Sciences

Responsibilities

• Copy-edit academic and scientific manuscripts for grammar, punctuation, clarity, conciseness, and logical flow.
• Ensure manuscripts meet standard scientific English conventions and are appropriate for a global academic audience.
• Adapt manuscripts to conform to specific journal style requirements, including formatting, referencing, abbreviations, and units of measure.
• Crosscheck document metadata, including in-text citations, reference lists, author affiliations, and figure/table callouts.

Requirements

• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Medicine or Life Sciences.
• Mandatory experience in academic editing or copyediting.
• Mandatory familiarity with content related to the Indigenous population of Australia.
• Proficiency in MS Word, specifically using Track Changes and styling options.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with the AMA style guide.
