About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead an agile team within the Payments Trust and Safety Technology group to build secure, scalable fraud protection solutions for merchants.
- Execute creative software design, development, and technical troubleshooting to solve complex technical problems.
- Develop secure, high-quality production code and perform rigorous code reviews and debugging.
- Monitor and analyze product performance and scalability across diverse hardware and software configurations.
- Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed.
- Influence senior stakeholders across business, product, and technology teams to align on technical strategy.
- Design and implement tools to automate performance measurement, analysis, and standard benchmarks.
Requirements
- 5+ years of applied software engineering experience with formal training in software engineering concepts.
- Advanced hands-on development experience in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
- Practical experience with AWS services including ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, EC2, and Kafka.
- Demonstrated experience leading the use of AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for coding, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of responsible AI use, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
- Proficiency in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including CI/CD, Agile methodologies, and application resiliency.
- Experience with database management and system design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong enterprise architecture design concepts leveraging API and Kafka for unified user experiences.
- Experience with case management workflow and orchestration.
- Conceptual knowledge of "vibe coding" and leveraging developer assistant tools for maximum efficiency gains.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
