FP&A Manager

About the Company

Arc Institute is an independent nonprofit research organization at the interface of artificial intelligence and biology, working to accelerate scientific progress and understand the root causes of complex diseases. Based in Palo Alto, Arc partners with Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and UC San Francisco to integrate experimental and computational biology.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with budget owners (CSO, CTO, and COO) to ensure financial plans align with strategic goals
• Provide detailed variance analysis against prior forecasts and budget
• Develop scenario-driven financial models for Institute Initiatives, new scientific programs, and capital expenditures
• Drive continuous improvement in FP&A processes, reporting automation, and financial system utilization
• Help develop and present annual operating budgets, long-range strategic plans, and forecasts
• Support strategic vendor negotiations to reduce operational costs

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field
• 3-7 years of experience in a demanding finance or analytical role
• Experience leading core corporate FP&A functions including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
• 2-3 years of experience as an Investment Banking Analyst or Consultant at a major firm
• Exceptional proficiency with advanced spreadsheet modeling and visualizations

Preferred Qualifications

• Educational background or professional experience in Biosciences or Biotech
• Experience with financial planning systems such as Netsuite Planning or Adaptive Planning
