Founding Technical Lead: Active Flow Control Systems

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine prototype systems demonstrating active flow control on relevant geometries
• Translate lab-scale surface actuation concepts into scalable, manufacturable processes
• Conduct early customer discovery to identify performance pain points in target markets
• Collaborate with the venture team to shape go-to-market strategy and regulatory pathways
• Recruit and lead a founding technical team of specialists

Requirements

• PhD or Master’s in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or similar
• Deep expertise in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, or hydrodynamics
• Experience with active/passive surface technologies like smart actuators or morphing structures
• Proficiency with CFD, wind tunnel/water tunnel testing, or electromechanical integration
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to build a company from scratch
• Strong communication skills for engaging with experts and investors

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a startup environment
• Experience in translational research
• Background in the defense or aerospace industry
