About the Company

Nolla is building AI doctors so that top-quality healthcare is accessible to everyone. Nolla Skin is the #1 medical skincare treatment app in the U.S. App Store. We've treated thousands of acne patients in the U.S., scanned 1% of Norway's population for skin cancer, and our in-house clinical models are state of the art on clinical benchmarks. We just launched NollaMD, our urgent care app, and we're building dedicated specialty apps for conditions like birth control and allergies. We raised a $4.5M seed from General Catalyst.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backends for existing and new specialty apps
• Own backend systems end to end, from schema design to production
• Build clinician-facing dashboards and internal tooling for medical teams
• Work on prompts, tool calling, and inference optimization for AI features
• Build evals and observability to ensure AI system correctness
• Implement abstention, routing, and fallback strategies for safety
• Support a wide range of work including payments, user flows, and clinical infra

Requirements

• 4+ years of backend, platform, or product engineering experience
• Proven track record of shipping products (side projects, open source, or apps)
• Experience building from zero in small team environments
• Proficiency with the AI engineering toolkit: prompts, evals, tool calling, RAG, and LLM APIs
• Strong product instincts and ability to scope and ship independently
• Strong TypeScript and Python skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in regulated industries like healthcare or fintech
• Proficiency with infrastructure and deployment (Docker, CI/CD)
• Familiarity with healthcare data standards like FHIR or HL7
• Experience with observability stacks such as Langfuse or Sentry
• Prior work in clinical AI or digital health
