About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and deployment of robust underwater navigation and sensor fusion systems for hull-cleaning and NDT inspection robots
- Design and implement advanced filtering algorithms, including EKF, UKF, and Particle Filters, to produce accurate state estimates in GPS-denied environments
- Formulate continuous and discrete-time state-space models to estimate position, velocity, attitude, and sensor biases
- Manage real-world sensor uncertainties, including IMU bias estimation, DVL alignment, pressure-depth offsets, and acoustic latency
- Solve complex localization problems in the field, such as compensating for drift, handling sensor dropouts, and managing acoustic outliers
- Design resilient localization architectures capable of handling asynchronous measurements and intermittent aiding
Requirements
- Proficiency in advanced filtering algorithms (EKF, UKF, Particle Filters)
- Experience with underwater multi-sensor integration (IMU, DVL, USBL/LBL, sonar, and pressure sensors)
- Strong background in state-space modeling and observability in constrained motion environments
- Expertise in sensor calibration, timing synchronization, and noise management
- Deep understanding of underwater navigation, including dead reckoning and inertial navigation
- Proven ability for forward-deployed problem solving and debugging failures from field logs under operational pressure
