Forward Deployed Engineer

Responsibilities

• Own Nuon installation and day-2 operations for enterprise BYOC customers, including upgrades, migrations, and incident response
• Author and refine runbooks, policies, and versioned actions for customer environments
• Maintain Nuon BYOC app configurations and build new configs for customer onboarding and POCs
• Monitor customer environments via Datadog and platform telemetry to respond to alerts proactively
• Execute customer-initiated break-glass operations with strict auditability
• Operate underlying infrastructure stacks including ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, and Temporal
• Coordinate change windows and rollback plans with customer engineering teams
• Partner with IST-based on-call teams and provide technical support in customer Slack channels
• Feed operational feedback into the product via bugs and design docs

Requirements

• 4+ years as a customer-facing engineer, SRE, or implementation engineer in infrastructure/developer tools
• 3+ years of production Kubernetes experience (debugging pods, RBAC, ingress, upgrades)
• 2+ years of experience with Terraform
• Proficiency with AWS and at least one of Google Cloud or Azure
• Strong Linux skills and expertise in networking (VPCs, load balancers, ingress controllers)
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or Temporal in production
• Proficiency with AI tools like Claude Code
• Experience working in early-stage startup environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience running BYOC, single-tenant, or on-prem deployments for enterprise SaaS
• Background as a full-stack or platform engineer
• Experience operating Temporal workflows in production
• Experience with SOC 2 or similar compliance work
• Active technical presence on X or Hacker News
