Forward Deployed Engineer

Responsibilities

• Understand, structure, and evaluate technical requirements from customers
• Design and build integrations between 8returns and external systems such as shops, ERP systems, 3PLs, and warehouse tools
• Analyze APIs, webhooks, and technical documentation to implement clean data flows
• Accompany customer requirements from initial technical assessment to productive solution
• Estimate feasibility, effort, and technical risks for Sales and Customer Success teams
• Independently implement small product adjustments, automations, and customer-specific extensions
• Debug integration issues and develop robust solutions
• Identify recurring integration patterns and translate them into reusable building blocks

Requirements

• Technical background in Software Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Implementation Engineering, or comparable practical experience
• Very good understanding of APIs, data models, webhooks, authentication, logs, and technical documentation
• Strong builder mentality with the ability to structure open technical problems independently
• AI-native workflow using tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Agents, or similar
• Native or comparable level of German
• Ability to communicate clearly and calmly about technical topics with customers
• Pragmatic problem-solving approach

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Shopify or E-Commerce
• Experience with ERP, Warehouse, 3PL, or Order Management Systems
