About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own process quality for designated lines and campaigns from formation through end-of-line testing
  • Define and maintain critical quality characteristics such as charge/discharge profiles, capacity, and impedance
  • Support design of experiments (DOE) to develop and refine formation and aging recipes
  • Integrate CT and other scanning techniques into end-of-line quality control
  • Lead data-driven monitoring for end-of-line testing and cell cycling
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation including process flow diagrams, control plans, and risk analyses
  • Execute measurement system studies (MSA/GR&R) for in-line and offline measurements
  • Lead structured problem solving using root cause techniques like 5-Why and 8D

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a closely related field
  • 5+ years of experience in battery manufacturing or pack design
  • Deep understanding of lithium-ion cell electrochemistry, including SEI/CEI formation and degradation mechanisms
  • Hands-on experience with battery cycling equipment and end-of-line vision systems
  • Practical experience using CT scanning or advanced characterization methods such as SEM
  • Strong knowledge of quality and statistical tools including DOE, SPC, MSA, and FMEA
  • Proven technical leadership and ability to drive complex, multi-variable problems to closure

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in electrochemistry, Materials Science and Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience integrating formation and aging data with CT and spectroscopy techniques
  • Familiarity with gigafactory scale manufacturing systems and large cycling datasets
  • Experience with advanced analytics, such as multivariate analysis or machine learning, to identify cell failure patterns
