Forestry Officer

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of the Forest Management strategy for Latvia and Lithuania
• Maintain a pipeline of certification opportunities including state forests, private enterprises, and smallholder associations
• Engage with key stakeholders such as forest managers, certification bodies, industry associations, and government entities
• Represent FSC at relevant conferences, meetings, and webinars
• Provide technical guidance to existing and potential Certificate Holders and Certification Bodies
• Assist in the development and revision of FSC standards to ensure sub-regional stakeholder engagement
• Analyze and manage internal and external forest-related data for the Baltic region

Requirements

• University degree in silviculture, forestry, forest management, supply chain management, or equivalent experience
• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in the forestry sector
• Sound understanding of FSC standards, particularly forest stewardship and risk assessments
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
• Fluency in Latvian and/or Lithuanian (written and spoken)
• Proficiency in MS Office and ability to adapt to new technological solutions
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote, multi-cultural environment
