Forensic Mortuary Technician I

Responsibilities

• Assist Mortuary Operations Supervisors in day-to-day unit operations
• Perform mortuary procedures and decedent handling including intake, storage, and release
• Manage intake and release photos and fingerprinting
• Operate the OCME Case Management System (CMS) and mobile app for death certificates and burial permits
• Maintain, clean, and sanitize mortuary areas daily
• Prepare incident reports, schedules, and statistics
• Perform case recovery by driving motor vehicles to and from death scenes
• Weigh and lift remains into storage compartments
• Adhere to all unit policies and procedures

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year of full-time experience in mortuary and/or autopsy work
• Ability to provide a DNA sample via swabbing
• Ability to work in an essential position requiring 24-hour availability during emergencies
• Authorization to work in the United States
