About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist Mortuary Operations Supervisors in day-to-day unit operations
- Perform mortuary procedures and decedent handling including intake, storage, and release
- Manage intake and release photos and fingerprinting
- Operate the OCME Case Management System (CMS) and mobile app for death certificates and burial permits
- Maintain, clean, and sanitize mortuary areas daily
- Prepare incident reports, schedules, and statistics
- Perform case recovery by driving motor vehicles to and from death scenes
- Weigh and lift remains into storage compartments
- Adhere to all unit policies and procedures
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of full-time experience in mortuary and/or autopsy work
- Ability to provide a DNA sample via swabbing
- Ability to work in an essential position requiring 24-hour availability during emergencies
- Authorization to work in the United States
