Food Testing Lab Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, and train laboratory employees to ensure high quality and efficiency standards
• Manage daily microbiology laboratory operations, including supervising manual and instrumental analyses
• Ensure adherence to Quality System documents, including SOPs, Test Methods, and ISO requirements
• Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and coordinate major instrument repairs
• Review and evaluate test data for technical accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
• Investigate non-conformances, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
• Conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, and perform annual personnel performance reviews
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and quality control results

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, or Molecular Biology
• 3+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
• Experience with PCR, ELISA, and cultural confirmation of foodborne pathogens (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli)
• Strong understanding of laboratory procedures, data analysis, and technical writing
• Excellent communication, organizational, and attention to detail skills
• Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship
