Food Service Assistant

Responsibilities

• Manage food preparation and service ensuring CACFP compliance
• Place weekly food orders and manage food costs
• Receive and verify food deliveries for accuracy and compliance
• Maintain strict food hygiene, safety protocols, and temperature logs
• Organize food inventory including labeling, dating, and rotation
• Accommodate children's special dietary needs and allergies
• Provide classroom coverage and support children with daily living skills
• Assist with school operations such as laundry and inventory checks

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Age 18 or older
• Active and current food worker card
• Experience in institutional or highly regulated kitchen settings
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
• Ability to pass background checks and required Arizona training

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with USDA/CACFP guidelines
• Two or more years of experience in a school or daycare kitchen
• Knowledge of food allergens and dietary accommodations
• Experience with Montessori pedagogy
• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education
• Fluency in Spanish
