Food Security Associate

Responsibilities

• Coordinate food rescue, donation procurement, and distribution to community partners
• Oversee and lead volunteers in daily food organizing, measuring, packaging, and hamper distribution
• Record, track, and analyze food rescue data to provide actionable insights
• Assist in preparing meals and hampers for various programs in collaboration with the Program Coordinator
• Support food procurement through community outreach and partnership development
• Assist with food logistics for special events while adhering to provincial health guidelines
• Maintain food safety, cleanliness, and sanitized premises in the kitchen and storage areas
• Collect and handle feedback from program participants and community stakeholders professionally

Requirements

• High school graduate with some community college training in a related field
• Experience working with marginalized communities
• Strong customer service experience
• Ability to perform moderate physical labor, including frequent standing and lifting up to 50lbs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Class 5 driver's license
• Experience in event planning
• Experience working in a multi-cultural social services environment
• Knowledge of food security trends and best practices
