Food Quality & Packaging Specialist

Responsibilities

• Inspect inbound produce and perishable products to ensure compliance with quality, temperature, freshness, and USDA/FDA/organic standards
• Approve or reject loads based on inspection outcomes and document all findings for compliance and organic certification
• Monitor warehouse conditions, product rotation, and labeling to adhere to food safety protocols
• Package fresh produce into retail-ready packs according to customer orders and company standards
• Partner with Purchasing, Buyers, and Warehouse teams to monitor vendor performance and product trends
• Maintain accurate food safety logs and escalate corrective actions when necessary
• Support recall processes and mock recall exercises
• Rotate between Quality Control and Packaging functions to meet operational needs

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–3 years of wholesale or retail produce experience
• Strong knowledge of perishable products
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to extreme temperatures (cold, frozen, and ambient)
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods on concrete surfaces

Preferred Qualifications

• USDA certification or USDA produce quality training
• Experience with organic compliance, handling, or food safety audits
• Knowledge of floral products
