Food Bank Worker

Responsibilities

• Assist with unloading food donations from vans and trucks
• Sort and document food donations to ensure proper reporting and distribution
• Maintain food bank stock, cleanliness, and organization of freezers and coolers
• Monitor and record refrigerator and freezer temperatures twice daily
• Prepare weekly inventory lists of low or zero-stock items
• Assist with client intake, call backs, and updating client files in Link 2 Feed
• Help sort and pack parcels for seasonal programs
• Ensure all clients and members of the public are treated with dignity and respect
• Comply with all health and safety policies and OH&S regulations

Requirements

• Completion of minimum Grade 10
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License
• Ability to lift and move up to 30 lbs
• Ability to stand, reach, bend, and stoop for long periods
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check
• Eligibility for the Canada Summer Jobs program (including age and legal status criteria)

Preferred Qualifications

• Safe Food Handling Certification
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training
• Experience working with disenfranchised populations or community-based resources
