Fluid Solids Static Equipment Engineer

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering expertise and leadership in the design, fabrication, installation, analysis, and maintenance of equipment in Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) and other Fluid Solids (FS) processes.
• Provide onsite and remote support during FCC, Fluid Coking (FLK), and Flexi Coking (FXK) unit shutdowns, including equipment entry and assessment.
• Troubleshoot equipment reliability issues and develop on-stream repairs to safely avoid equipment shutdowns.
• Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis for static equipment.
• Design FCC, FLK, and FXK equipment using established design methods, including static equipment design codes, Finite Element Analysis, and piping flexibility analysis.
• Develop equipment specifications for fluid solids equipment such as vessels, cyclone internals, slide valves, expansion joints, and transfer lines.
• Perform engineering oversight of detailed design work performed by contractors and other engineers.
• Mentor and develop engineers to ensure the retention of specialized mechanical engineering knowledge within the corporation.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the petrochemical industry.
• At least 3 years of specific experience with FCC, FLK, or FXK processes.
• Expertise in designing and assessing complex static equipment for high-temperature and erosive process environments.
• Strong understanding of equipment fabrication, inspection techniques, and material selection.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot operations and maintenance issues to optimize equipment reliability.
• Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and verbal/written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
